A Foundation Update with Giorgio Armani

I seem to love a good blog post about foundations. Having a quick flick through the old blogging archives, it’s a product/subject I’ve covered A LOT. But as I said in a recent post, I believe if your base isn’t right, the rest of your makeup will follow suit. So while I will always have my favourites, I think I’ll be forever testing out new formulas. After all, who can resist the temptation of perfect, glowing skin?

Today’s post is on a bit of a cult blogger fave. You can nearly always spot the bottle lurking in a flat lay or two and I guess that’s because as foundation bottles go, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is a damn pretty one.

So let me start by saying, I absolutely love, love this foundation. From the second I tested the creamy formula on the back of my palm, I knew it was the one. I picked it up in shade 4 and it literally melted into my skin, leaving THE silkiest finish. I’m talking baby’s bum kinda’ soft. It also gives just the perfect amount of dew to the skin; it isn’t super glowy (even though you’d expect to it be from the name) and yet isn’t completely matte. I’d even say that if your preference is towards a more matte foundation, you might find this beauty converts you.

My skin is an annoying combination of mostly dry, with an occasionally oily T Zone. So finding the right foundation that doesn’t cling to dry areas and equally doesn’t make me look greasy, can be quite the challenge. However this guy, pretty much ticks every box. The light, buildable coverage and silky finish means that it effortlessly smoothes over pores, doesn’t emphasise dry areas and doesn’t break up around oily areas either. It’s literally a dream.

The only slight negative is that the coverage isn’t amazing. By design, the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation is super-lightweight, so if I’m having a dodgy skin day, then this definitely isn’t up to the job. But on days where my skin is being relatively well behaved or for the summer months, it’s ideal.

So overall, it’s a big fat.. hells yeah from me!
