All About That Base

In my opinion, if your base isn’t great, the rest of your makeup isn’t going to be either. It’s like trying to paint a masterpiece on a crumpled up piece of paper… it’s probably not going to happen chick! Not to say my makeup is a work of art, usually far from it, but you get the gist. Investing in your base products is the key to achieving glowing, more flawless looking skin.

So over the last few weeks I’ve picked up two newbies to add to my collection and in true blogger style, I thought I’d do a little post on them.

The first is the Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturiser in shade Light. Now I’m usually addicted to Nars Sheer Glow, but since I’ve been working from home, I haven’t really been wearing makeup at all. HOWEVER, I opened the door to the postman the other day and I must have been looking particularly rough as he asked me about 3 times whether I was feeling okay. Charming ay! So in attempt to stop giving him a fright and probably my neighbours too, I thought I’d invest in a light, low maintenance base that I could wear everyday.

The Tarte Tinted Moisturiser ticked pretty much every box. It’s oil free, super lightweight and has been designed to hydrate, without blocking pores. It’s just perfect to slap on, even out your skin tone and then roll on with your day. It is also so easy to apply, which is one of my favourite things about it. I literally chuck it on in the morning with my beauty blender and depending on what I’m doing that day, I either apply a light, thin layer or build it up. It couldn’t be easier.

The second thing I picked up was a recommendation from a friend… the Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer in shade Banana. This little pot of wonders is the ultimate remover of dark circles. It’s like a miracle worker! It does have an extremely thick consistency, so the application takes a little getting used to. But trust me, it’s totally worth it. The Becca Concealer is long-wearing and covers dark circles, redness and blemishes almost instantly. I honestly wouldn’t be without it.

I’d love to know if you guys have any base recommendations. Drop me a comment below if so. x
