Spring Makeup Shakeup

Hello March and a big fat hello the beginning of spring.

I don’t know about you, but I am so ready to embrace some blue skies and a bit of warmer weather. Aside from that, one of the most exciting parts of Spring is the chance to shake up my makeup… well okay, and my wardrobe (obvs!).

Now I’m not one for drastic makeup changes, but a pop colour and a switch to dewier finishes is a must when it comes to spring makeup. So I thought I’d share with you a couple of my top tips for transitioning your makeup for the new season.

The first change is always my base, opting for something a little lighter and slightly dewier. My current obsession is the By Terry Cover Expert, a beautiful foundation that provides full coverage but without that heavy finish. For an even lighter effect, try applying with a damp beauty blender. I honestly couldn’t live without mine.

Being a tan addict, my bronzer routine pretty much stays the same. I’m currently working my way through the very pretty Ambient Lighting Bronzer from Hourglass which has a subtle hint of sparkle. My blush however is another story and this is where I can inject that much needed pop of colour. I don’t think I’ve ever quite got over just how pretty the MAC Ombre Blush is – seriously, just look at it. But aside from that, the reason I love it so much is because it allows you to custom blend your perfect shade. From a subtle shade to a bright pink, you can literally wear this beauty right though till autumn.

The spring weather is always a little more forgiving and normally when I start to re-embrace the trend for no makeup, makeup.  For these days my go to is the Benefit Gimme Brow Gel, it’s super natural and completely effortless to apply. The rest of my look doesn’t overly change, just a flick of mascara and a nude eye shadow, easy peasy.

The lips are an effortless way to shake up your spring makeup. A bright red lip instantly takes a look from day to night, or a bright pink can transform your look into something a little softer and more feminine. For a great high street option, check out the Revlon Ultra HD lip colours. They’re highly pigmented, long-lasting and completely affordable. Win, win ay.

Just like with the lips, opting for a bright shade on your nails can instantly put a spring in your step (excuse the pun). Essie is always my instant go-to for pretty bright shades. Not only do they dry super fast, but their collection is freakin’ huge.

For fragrance, I will start to move away from anything overly musky and introduce some fruity or light floral tones. The YSL Mon Paris Perfume is the perfect choice and you can read my full review as to why here. As weird as it sounds, I always find a good spritz of perfume can help put you in the right frame of mind for the rest of the day.
