Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea, The Sanderson Hotel

To celebrate Saturday (cause if there is no better reason to celebrate, why not?), my friends and I treated ourselves to the Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon tea at The Sanderson Hotel.

The Mad Hatters Tea Party is something I had been longing to try since spying some mouth-wateringly, eccentric snaps on Instagram. It did not disappoint! Set in a pretty, Wonderland themed courtyard at the middle of the hotel, it was easy to forget you were just steps away from the bustling Oxford Street.

When we sat down we were offered a selection of dessert inspired teas, including strawberries and cream and rhubarb and custard… we went for the latter option.

After tea we were presented with the most magical-looking food I have ever eaten. The plates were stacked high with a selection of meringue carrots, marshmallow mushrooms, chocolate teacups, clock-inspired cakes and finger sandwiches, it was a spread that the Mad Hatter would have been proud off.    IMG_8565

The food almost looked too pretty to eat… almost…

The cutest thing on the menu had to be the ‘drink me’ bottle filled with passionfruit deliciousness. You could also visit the Jelly Wonderland, with fruit jellies made in Victorian moulds, but alas, we couldn’t squeeze it in!

We left high on sugary goodness, planning where next to afternoon tea. But as London is packed with so many tempting options, I’d love to know your suggestions. Leave me a comment to let me know.

Till next time. XO

  • That looks amazing! How about the London bus Afternoon tea tour or afternoon tea with a view in the shard? Or the fashion inspired pret et portea at the Berkeley. Enjoy!

    • I’ve heard about the London Bus Afternoon Tea, it would be lovely in the summer! Thanks for the suggestions : ) x
